Our promises in writing

Short, plain-language rules for ordering, returns, delivery and your privacy.

Terms & conditions

  • Book lists, prices and editions are shared by each school. We pack exactly what your school prescribes for the academic year.
  • Prices include GST and are shown in Indian rupees. Optional items can be removed before you pay; items marked compulsory cannot.
  • An order is confirmed only after payment succeeds on this website. You'll get an order number by SMS and email.
  • If a school changes its list after you order, we'll contact you before packing and adjust the kit or refund the difference.
  • Sahitya Books never asks for payment through WhatsApp, QR codes sent on chat, or personal phone numbers.

Returns & replacements

  • Missing, damaged or wrong book? Tell us within 7 days of delivery with your order number and a photo, and we'll send a replacement free of charge.
  • If a replacement isn't available, we refund that item to your original payment method within 5–7 working days.
  • Books that have been written in, covered or labelled can't be returned unless they arrived damaged or wrong.
  • Notebooks and stationery can be returned unused within 7 days.

Shipping & delivery

  • Home delivery: kits are dispatched within 3–5 working days of ordering, and always before school reopens for orders placed by the school's last date.
  • Deliver to school: where your school allows it, kits reach the classroom on the first day at no extra cost.
  • You can follow every step on the Track order page.
  • If nobody is home, our delivery partner tries again the next working day, or you can collect from your nearest branch.

Privacy

  • We collect only what we need to deliver your kit: the parent's name, mobile, email, address and the student's name and class.
  • We use it to process orders, send updates and help with support requests, and never sell or rent it to anyone.
  • Card and UPI payments are handled by our payment gateway. We never see or store your card number or UPI PIN.
  • You can ask us to correct or delete your details at any time through a support request.
